Behind the Burner Shakes up Halloween Cocktails on WNBC


Divya Gugnani shakes up some scary sippers with Tracie Strahan at Weekend Today. Get yourself in the mood for some haunting, yet delicious, cider based cocktails. The Spiced Caramel Apple (Created by Kara Newman, author of Spice & Ice, as reviewed on Behind the Burner) 2oz Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur 1oz Van Gogh Dutch Caramel Vodka 2 1/2 oz Apple Cider 1 dash lemon juice Rim your martini glass with agave syrup and crumbled gingersnap cookies. Add liquid ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into martini glass. Skulled Holiday Cider 1 1/2 oz Crystal Head Vodka 1/2 oz. vanilla liqueur 1 oz. apple cider dash of angostura bitters Top with Ginger Ale Add all ingredients to a highball glass filled with ice in the order given. Give a quick stir and add the garnish. Garnish: an apple slice on the rim or inside of the glass From the Stone Rose Lounge: Sparkling Venom 1 1/2oz spiced rum 1 1/2oz apple cider Simple syrup Ground cinnamon 1oz champagne In shaker, combine spiced rum, apple cider, small splash simple syrup and a pinch of cinnamon. Add ice and shake. Strain in to champagne glass and top with champagne.
